This is Alerina, Dove's mother, a few months before the birth itself.
This one was drawn on June 24, during the time when I didn't have access to a scanner, so it's been sitting in my notebook for a time... can you tell this paper wasn't meant for paint?
I wish the black marker wasn't dead, but at least the water-colored part makes the darkness look like it's alive, doesn't it? ^^ Still, it's not as smooth as I hoped it would turn out... The only good tool I had was my mechanical pencil. Everything else was from a 5dollar-52 piece art set. XD

My pictures are usually the mood-settings for my stories. This story would be part of Alerina's bio, I suppose... This is the part I wrote just for this picture.

She knew that if anyone found out, they would take the baby away... so she turned to magic. Spellcasting became part of her daily routine. Every day, she would cast a spell of protection or a shield of silence. She was afraid to pray - if she sent her fears, and therefor the truth, to Azar, the very goddess of Azarath, then she might in turn reveal what she knew to her granddaughter, and Alerina's secret would then be revealed to all of Azarath. No. She could trust none but herself. She would protect the child herself, raise the child herself, and care for the child alone. No one would know.
The magic felt... warm. Whenever she could break away from the pain and calm her mind, THAT was when she felt at true peace. But more importantly, the spells always let her feel protected, safe. The soft glow of the magic enveloped her in a sense of security, and it was only then that she believed she was truly safe.

By the way, Azarath had three Azars: the creator of Azarath and a goddess, her daughter, and then her daughter, AKA Raven's trainer and the High Priestess of Azarath.

giving birth alone i have one character of mine that goes through the same thing yes but it is really horrible.....but this is very cool
